There is so much to say about this holiday… the sea plane transfer from Male to Laamu was spectacular; Six Senses resort and water villas stunningly beautiful; incredible sea life on the house reef and sea grass meadows, exceptional restaurants and a jam packed programme of activities, on water and land - whatever the weather.
We particularly enjoyed the yoga and spa workshops; Teppenyaki dining expereience, in addition to the Maldivian cookery class and chocolate workshops with resort Head Chefs. The new Shell centre with its team of marine biologists and laboratories is absolutely fascinating- we really enjoyed the talks and exploring reefs with such passionate and dedicated staff. So we leave for home totally rejuvenated.

After a long flight a steam room, Turkish bath and an excellent massage is heavenly. Massage is 40 min. I wish the spa offers Ayurvedic massage as well!
Staffs are friendly although I found most people in turkey flaunting the rules on the masks and staying too close to the guests. It must be too hot for them and even at the mall I found them pulling down when they talked to customers!!! Generally though, staff here still following the rules. Not so much the taxi drivers and other people outside!
I only stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Nonetheless I had pleasant time here thanks to all stuff. A taxi ride to Istenya Park from here costs around 70TL.

Just after my booking was done I stumble on a negative review that was posted on trip advisor.
I was worried about my choice. But when I went to Istanbul and stayed there, I felt compelled to share my own experience, which was entirely different and absolutely fantastic! First of all , if you are seeking a resort , Pera Orient is not a resort and it never claims to be one!
My stay at Pera Orient was comfortable and pleasant. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by the friendly and attentive staff, who made their best to help me in every possible way and to answer my queries during my 5-day long stay.
Their warm smiles and genuine willingness to assist truly set the tone for my stay. The location of the hotel is ideal.
A 6 min walk from the hotel takes you to Taksim square where you can take the Metro or bus to reach your desired destination. And it allowed me to make regular daily walks on istikal street. The street is a little narrow yes, but there are plenty of hotels all around that I have never felt scared or unsafe as it was mentioned in the negative review.
And I always took the upward direction then turn right towards taksim. I was greeted by a spotless clean room with a tasteful decor. The bed was incredibly comfortable, The housekeeping staff was attentive and meticulous, making sure that my room was impeccably cleaned each day.
Coffee and tea were left daily next to the kettle sometimes with a bottle of water. The location is perfect. Very close to public transport and metro stops.
Rooms are spacious clean and new. Radisson Blu Bosphorus Hotel, Istanbul. Not a great hotel. Position overlooking the Bosphorus is the only semi-nice thing about this hotel. In a busy street. Almost impossible to get an uber or taxi with no offered assistance from staff. Rooms need a refresh and are dingy. Terrible natural and room lighting. Hotel appears understaffed and staff that are there not proactive and seems generally unconcerned I am not the fussiest of travellers but I would not recommend this hotel nor stay here again.

The giant lobby in a wonderful hotel was like a palace with a beautifully decorated restaurant with a wonderful view. Now they have made that very wide lobby a store building into a income door. The rooms furniture all the old hotel tapes are old and dirty. The men who serve are on the barbecue.
The hotel has a distance from professional administration. Any good business hotel in Istanbul serves at this level.

Kilya Hotel. For my first post-Covid visit to Turkey, a regular destination where I have dear friends, I went straight from the airport to Hotel Kilya, a real favourite, and just a 40 minute drive. The Kilya is a small, quiet, friendly establishment, with a lovely pool and beautiful clifftop view over the Black Sea.
